With so many great artists, musicians and composers in history, it may seem like a daunting challenge to access one's own voice in contemporary music. But I think that composing is one of the most important and exciting jobs of a musician. My process is one in which melody is the primary element.

For me, melody and motif development are the result of reflecting on my experiences, relationships and concepts. They are what generate the story that inspires the melody, and when this process begins, the other elements of the song fall into place.

Ultimately, my goal is to make music that is enjoyable for both the listener and the musician.
